A few weeks ago I applied for a grant through an orgaization called Generation Rescue. This grant would give use 2 doctors visits to a Defeat Autism Now (DAN) doctor, a 90 day supply of viatmins and supplements, and a few other things. I felt if we were to be blessed enough to receive this grant- it would give me the catapult/drive to try the gluten free/ casen free diet with Major. I also decided that since Major could no longer take any of the tradional medicines (due to medical reasons) that it was a almost last ditch effort in trying to curb some of the behaviors and other issues. Well thanks to God we were/ are one of 10 families (I believe) nation wide to get the grant. I have jumped off the deep end when it comes to this. This diet can be very expensive but thanks to some great advice from a friend I am making almost everything from scratch, because of that it isn't to pricey. As of today May 9, 2011 we are going into day 4 of being 100% gluten and casen free. I want to document our journey and share some of the information I find a long the way. I hope by doing so I can help a mom with a special needs child spend a little less time researching on the computer and a little more time creating a delicious meal or snack.
